Avila Spaces is among the nominees for the Next Work Environment Competition Awards, promoted by the prestigious international magazine Work Design Magazine. The nomination recognizes the Re:Space — Rethinking Work, Reusing the World project, an innovative outdoor coworking concept that combines hybrid work, well-being, and sustainability, promising to transform the way we think about workspaces. Developed in partnership with the Teresa Jacinto – Interior Design studio, Re:Space was born from the desire to take advantage of underutilized outdoor areas and convert them into collaborative, comfortable, and productive environments. In a world where hybrid work is increasingly valued but still mostly takes place within four walls, this proposal challenges the status quo and invites us to rethink the office as a living, flexible space in contact with nature. ![]() A terrace that breathes innovationThe project proposes transforming the 354 m² terrace of our space on Avenida da República into a sustainable and functional space throughout the year. The proposal includes recycled materials, natural ventilation, shading systems, energy efficiency, and a constant connection to the outdoors. Everything is designed to provide comfort, productivity, and inspiration. According to our CEO, Carlos Gonçalves, "The Re:Space concept is more than just a new workspace model—it is a manifesto for a future where people's well-being and respect for the planet go hand in hand. We want companies and professionals to find in these spaces not only an appeal to productivity, but also energy, inspiration, and a sense of community.” Flexibility, technology, and natureBased on the Activity Based Working model, Re:Space offers freedom for each user to choose the environment best suited to the task at hand—whether it be focus, collaboration, socializing, or rest. With smart lighting, natural light sensors, charging points, mobile furniture, and reservable spaces, the concept redefines what it means to "go to the office.” ![]() Sustainability is one of the central pillars: wood from industrial surplus, solar energy, rainwater reuse, and misting systems for thermal comfort. The space also includes a vertical garden and a community garden with herbs and vegetables, promoting healthy habits and reinforcing the connection to the earth. «The Re:Space concept is more than just a new workspace model—it is a manifesto for a future where people's well-being and respect for the planet go hand in hand.» |
